This social media TAB interaction was created to help improve the patron experience as they arrive at the Municipal Theater of St. Louis (MUNY). This project was done for the MUNY, which is located inside Forest Park in St. Louis, MO. This tool was created following the Backwards Design model.

The MUNY is the oldest and largest outdoor theater in the United States, accommodating 11,000 patrons during nightly performances. The MUNY is located in Forest Park, which is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Due to the number of patrons attending nightly events and the scenic design of Forest Park, arriving and parking at the MUNY can cause patrons to have a negative event-experience and impact revenue.
To increase access to information, the MUNY wanted to create a short learner experience that they could push out on their social media pages. The MUNY has a large following on social media, so a simple TAB interaction was the solution that best fit the data point that they were trying to address. This TAB interaction helps patrons make informed decisions and understand the best place to arrive and park based on their individual needs.
My Process
This project served as a valuable experience in designing a learning experience that was designed for a mobile phone. I was able to leverage information that the MUNY has on their website and organize it into a more targeted form.
A key challenge in this project was prototyping and designing the user experience for a phone. I was very careful in choosing the type of interaction and navigation to make it as targeted and user-friendly as possible. To evaluate this project and improve it, I would review the patron surveys to see if there was an increase/plateau/reduction in patrons mentioning arrival and parking as negative experiences in the patron experience survey. This data evaluation would inform necessary adjustments to the program, ensuring its ongoing relevance and effectiveness.
